Amara Decuir (originally named Amara Draclau) is the adopted daughter of High Priestess Santeria Decuir of the Witches of Dathomir , biologically the daughter of two completely unknown human parents, Malice Draclau kidnapped her as a child and passed her off as his own. Currently she is the Clan Mother of the Jaded Pines Clan on Dathomir.
PersonalityEditAmara tends to be extremely promiscious, with a great interest in casual sex and an apparent fear of attachment. Although she attempts to bring this under control when in a serious relationship, it is something she is known to struggle with, both as somebody addicted to a lifestyle of sleeping around and as somebody who is terrified of letting herself become too attached to somebody. She loves to make people want her, but likes to do it in the most obvious way possible, as it makes her feel desired.
She had abandoment issues based around her real parents abandoning her, and is often worried that one day she will be abandoned again. The fact that she feels unloved and unwanted, and that she believes herself to be little more than a pawn in a galactic conflict (the Decuirs against the Draclaus) have led her to actively reject conflict (she still refuses to carry a weapon), particularly on a larger scale. She is only concerned about loyalty to her home and those that raised her; the Coven, and her clan. She has no interest in fighting or taking part in the wider conflict, and in fact enjoys mocking her other, more grand standing family members for attempting to seem grand and important, often by highlighting her own actions in comparision to their 'grand' ones.
Self consciously trashy, she tends to be very vain regardless. She never goes anywhere without wearing extremely heavy make-up, is fond of strong cheap perfumes, and having her hair obviously bleached. She is also notoriously impractical, always opting for attention grabbing outfits over ones that might suit the situation. This is worsened by a total lack of appetitude for anything outside of city life; despite being raised on Dathomir, she's always preferred a concrete or durasteel jungle to a real one, and she tends to struggle even in the wilds of her own planet.
She is, however, very creative and imaginative. She will often think outside the box and use her powers in creative and unusual ways. She also has a deep attachment to animals, preferring their company to human beings, as she feels they're more loyal, and can be extremely caring and concerned over them (particularly rancors). Far more so than she is with humans.
Traded to the Coven by Malice Draclau in exchange for peace between the warring Draclau Empire and the Decuir lineage, Amara Draclau was raised as Santeria Decuir's own daughter. Renamed Amara Decuir, she always knew that she was adopted, a condition of the exchange, but came to view Santeria as her 'true' mother regardless, developing a deep seeded hatred of Malice Draclau for abandoning her, fed by the specific information given to her by Santeria Decuir.
Feeling particularly abandoned and unwanted, she was something of a sulky child, who often didn't put the effort in to her classes or learning spells as she didn't believe herself to be worthwhile, and she had a crippling fear of who she would become if she gave in to them, fearing and hating her father in equal measure. The only area in which she excelled was with animals, where she seemed to form a strong bond. Apprenticed to Pandora Marzullo , she spent her teenage years working hard looking after Dathomir's rancors, something for which she showed particular talent. During this time, she formed a close bond with a rancor named Bullseye, that would become her rancor.
It was also during her teenage years that she discovered she was capable of getting a lot of male attention by acting in the right manner, although this came somewhat later in her development than some would guess, around the age of seventeen. She began to spend more and more of her free time off world, sleeping with strangers, and finding that in those moments, she actually felt a bond of being wanted and desired. Her fear of attachment kept her from ever returning to the same person though, and she preferred quick, no-strings-attached engagements.
She became somewhat shaken when the nobleman Alexander Blacara came to train on Dathomir, and after an encounter in the depths of a Dathomir wood, Amara had found herself unable to easily leave him behind thanks to her impractical sense of dress. Despite wanting to simply drop him after their time together as she had with everybody else, he escorted her out, and she began to grow fond of him. With him staying on Dathomir, she gave in to temptation and returned to him, and although the pair swore to not be exclusive, knowing that Amara couldn't control herself, they began a basic relationship. Although Alexander later left, Amara's wild and out of control self unable to stay with him, his loss had something of an impact on her.
This loss, combined with a brutal sexual assault she suffered at the hands of Matthias Konrad, led to her attempting to gain some self control in her life. Recognising that she had absolutely no control over her cravings or desires, she began to study the art of Cyromancy, focusing on the creation of ice as a method of teaching herself self control. It was something that she displayed a natural talent at, and although it didn't quite have the desired effect with her self control (although it did help somewhat; she still slept around but she had a slightly better grasp on her cravings) it became her primary talent.
Her trial under Pandora was particularly gruelling. Tasked with exploring Dathomir on the back of Bullseye, and finding a new place in which the Coven could populate and grow. The journey took several months, since most areas were populated, or had been dismissed, and Amara had no idea about such things, such was her inexperience with the wild. Bullseye helped protect her and find her food as Amara grew gaunt and weak from months of travelling, before he eventually brought her to the Northern tip of Dathomir, and a vast mountain.
Ascending it alone, Amara discovered something of a miracle. Inside the caves of the mountain was a vast oasis, growing naturally from a hole in the mountain top that allowed sunlight and warmth in, water from melting snow, and was full of fruit growing, as well as a huge lagoon. Bullseye had led her to the perfect place, and outside of the caves there was a vast plateau, perfect for construction.
Realising that she had come to a place where she could unleash her powers without fear of what she might become, or who she might harm, she used her cyromancy skills to their most extreme, constructing, over months, a vast village made entirely out of ice. She built houses, halls, training areas, a courtyard, an arena, and even a vast palace, all from ice, preserved by the freezing temperatures. She named it Solitude, and finally proud of what she had done, she returned to Pandora, presenting it as a new place for the Coven to train.
She was knighted, and from there, continued to serve the Coven. One of her most noteable achivements came when she battled on Lao Mon with the Coven against her father, winning the planet back from him (and obtaining a severely mutated giant rancor too, who she named Tornado). She has also taken upon training Raphael Decuir , despite her brother's obvious dislike of her.
She has also entered in to a relationship with Valderon Kai, who was a fellow apprentice of her's and who she has known for quite some time, but has always been able to resist her advances. For him, she is trying much harder to control her sexual impulses to remain loyal, but struggling severely to do so.
